AdvertisingCT.com (“AdvertisingCT,” “we,” or “us”) publishes what advertising costs in Connecticut and helps businesses find the options that fit their town, industry and budget. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to advertisingct.com and to the forms on it.
Information We Collect
Information you give us. We collect what you type into our forms. There are two, and they collect different things:
- The advertising options form (the “Get My Best Options” form on most pages): your business name, your name, the town your customers are in, what your business does, your monthly advertising budget range, your email address, and optionally your phone number.
- The contact form (on our contact page): the topic you select, your name, optionally your business or organization, your email address, optionally your phone number, and the message you write.
Both forms also record which page you submitted from, so we can answer in context. We do not ask for and do not want payment card numbers, government identifiers, health information or any other sensitive category of data. Please do not include them in a message.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we receive technical data when you visit: IP address (from which an approximate city or region can be inferred), device and browser type, referring page, and the pages and links you interact with on our site. See Cookies and Analytics for how that works and how to turn it off.
We do not have user accounts. There is nothing to log into, so we hold no passwords, and we do not track you across other companies’ websites.
How We Use Your Information
- To answer your message and respond to what you asked for
- To match your budget, town and industry to advertising options, and to arrange for those options to be presented to you
- To contact you about your request and related advertising services
- To verify and correct the rates and data published on this site
- To operate, secure, measure and improve the website
- To produce anonymized, aggregated research about advertising in Connecticut, which never identifies you or your business
- To comply with law, enforce our terms, and prevent fraud and abuse
How We Share Your Information
This is the part worth reading closely. When you submit a form asking for advertising options, we share the information you provide with carefully selected third parties who can fulfill that request or offer relevant advertising products and services. These may include advertising agencies, media owners and sellers, marketing service providers, and other vetted partners. Those partners may contact you directly about your request and their own offerings, and they handle your information under their own privacy policies, not this one.
We may be compensated by those partners when we refer a business to them. That compensation never changes the rates or the recommendations published on this site, which are researched independently and sourced on every page.
We also share information with:
- Service providers who host the site, deliver our email, and process data on our behalf, under contracts limiting their use of it
- Analytics providers, as described below
- Authorities or others where required by law, or where necessary to protect our rights, our users, or the public
- A successor entity in connection with a merger, financing, or sale of assets
Depending on your jurisdiction, some of this sharing may be considered a “sale” of personal data or “targeted advertising” under applicable privacy law. You can opt out at any time, as described in Your Rights.
We do not sell or share the contents of contact-form messages for marketing purposes. Those are used to answer you.
Cookies and Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used: which pages and prices people read, how far down a page they get, which links they follow, and whether a form was started or completed. This tells us which parts of the guide are useful and which need work.
Google Analytics sets first-party cookies containing a randomly generated identifier, and processes your IP address to derive an approximate location. We do not use it to build advertising audiences, we do not enable Google Signals or ads personalization on this property, and we do not attempt to identify individual visitors from analytics data. Google’s use of the data it receives is governed by its own policies.
You can limit or stop this at any time:
- Install Google’s official browser opt-out add-on, available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
- Use your browser’s settings to block or delete cookies, or browse in a private window
- Enable a Global Privacy Control signal in a supporting browser, which we treat as an opt-out request under Connecticut law
Blocking analytics cookies does not break the site. Every page, price and form works normally without them.
Your Choices and Rights
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and you can opt out of marketing contact and of the sharing of your information with partners, at any time and at no cost.
Connecticut residents. Under the Connecticut Data Privacy Act you have the right to confirm whether we process your personal data and to access it, to correct inaccuracies, to delete it, to obtain a portable copy, and to opt out of its sale and of targeted advertising. You may appeal a refusal of any request, and if an appeal is denied you may contact the Connecticut Attorney General. Residents of other states with comparable laws have similar rights, and we apply this section to them as well.
To make any request, use our contact form and choose “Something Else,” describing what you want done. We respond within the timeframe the applicable law requires, and we may need to ask for information to verify who you are before acting on a request. You can also stop marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in any message, and reply STOP to any text message.
Data Retention and Security
We keep form submissions for as long as needed to provide our services, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements, and then delete or anonymize them. Analytics data is retained on Google’s standard retention schedule for this property.
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted transport and access controls on the systems that receive form submissions. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Other Terms
Children. This site is intended for businesses and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and we delete it if we learn we have.
Third-party links. We link to media owners, government databases such as the FCC public inspection files, and other outside sites. We do not control them and this policy does not cover them.
Where data is processed. We operate in the United States and process data here. If you contact us from outside the United States, you understand your information will be handled in the United States.
Changes. We may update this policy. We will post the new version on this page and change the date at the top, and material changes will be summarized here.
Contact. Questions about this policy, or about the information we hold on you, go through our contact form and reach a person, not a queue.
