Methodology

Government filings first, published cards second, reported spend last.

Broadcast rates are checked against the FCC political files, which every station in the country must publish and which show what real advertisers paid in recent weeks. Transit and municipal inventory comes from the rate cards those authorities publish themselves. Print and sponsorship figures come from current media kits, and platform costs from the platforms’ own documentation and reported benchmarks.

Where a rate could not be verified from a primary source, it is built from reported advertiser spending in the same market and labelled as such on the seller’s page. Nothing here is estimated from national averages and applied to Connecticut.

Questions

About This Data.

Where do these prices come from?

Published rate cards and media kits, the FCC political files that every broadcast station must publish, transit and municipal rate cards, platform documentation, and reported advertiser spending. Each seller page lists its own sources and the month the figures were last checked.

Are these quotes?

No. Every figure is a researched starting cost, written as a 'from' price. Media owners set the actual number, and it moves with availability, season, placement, flight length and negotiation. Use these to know whether a quote is reasonable, not to hold anyone to a price.

Can I use this data?

Yes, free, including commercially, under a Creative Commons Attribution licence. Credit AdvertisingCT.com and link back. Journalists, researchers and media owners are all welcome to it, and we will happily answer questions about methodology.

How often is it updated?

Rates are re-verified continuously and every change is logged publicly on our updates page with the date and reason, including corrections. If you spot a number that has moved, send it to us with a source and we will check it.
